In this project, the systematic theoretical studies on the aromaticity of cyclic synthons of Resonance-Assisted Hydrogen Bond (RAHB) in benzoic acid and isonicotinic acid dimers were investigated based on density functional theory method (DFT-M062X) in view point of computational crystal engineering. Quantitative measurement of aromaticity was performed by the nucleus independent chemical shifts (NICS) criteria. The different electron donor and acceptor substituents on the molecular unit were provided to evaluate the effect of tecton on the aromaticity of cyclic synthons. For this purpose, benzoic acid and isonicotinic acid dimers in the presence of various substituent (X= F, Cl, Br, I, CH3, CN, NO2, OCH3) and the metal substituent HgX2 (X= Cl, Br, I) as a para-position to the carboxylic functional group were designed. The effect of π-π interaction on the aromaticity of RAHB as a pseudo-aromatic ring was investigated through phenyl and pyrazine rings interaction. In this regard, the additive and diminutive cooperativity effect of these interactions was also investigated. The AIM analyses for some of systems were examined for better understanding of hydrogen bond interactions. In addition, the investigation of electronic properties and natural charge of atoms in cyclic synthon of RAHB was performed by NBO analysis and the results were discussed.
