Biomass as the source of renewable energy is a sustainable solution to provide energy requirement of the world. Nowadays, the anaerobic digestion of biomass is of very attractive subjects in the biogas production. Biogas production from anaerobic co-digestion of organic fraction of municipal solid waste and crude glycerin that obtained from biodiesel production was studied after the pre-treatment of substrate with ultrasound. Specific energy of ultrasound waves were 5000, 10000 and 15000 kJ/(kg.TS). The experiments as discontinuous with total solid content of 7% and retention time of 25 days in on-liter digesters were conducted under mesophilic condition. Results showed that ultrasonic pretreatment can significantly increase the solubilisation of organic solid waste. So, biogas production as well as methane yield were improved. Methane yield was increased up to 34% after the addition of 1% glycerin to the organic fraction of municipal solid waste. The best results were obtained for organic fraction of municipal solid waste as sonicated mixture with specific energy of 10000 kJ/(kg.TS). A methane yield was obtained 106.54 (mlCH_4)/(gVS_in ) with a methane content of 60% in this digester.
