Nowadays, due to the reduction of fossil fuel resources, planning for the use of renewable energy resources, especially energy derived from biomass and biogas, has especially important. Also, the use of food waste in order to reduce environmental pollution on one hand and on the other hand energy production is important. In this study, a series of laboratory digesters were produced. Three different combinations of food waste and poultry manure including 25:75, 50:50, and 75:25 for the production of biogas and methane were compared. These sets of digesters comprise of three digesting tanks with the volume of 6 liters and three tanks to gather the produced biogas. The sets had automatic mixing and temperature control systems. Experiments were done at mesophilic (35 ° C) and thermophilic (55 ° C) temperatures with period of 20 days and 15 days, respectively. The results showed that the highest volume of biogas production and methane content in mesophilic temperature occurred with combination ratio of 25% poultry manure - 75% food waste with 47.97 L / kgVS biogas production and 86% methane content. The highest volume of biogas production and methane content in thermophilic temperatures occurred in combination ratio of 50% poultry manure - 50% food waste with 62.56 L / kgVS biogas production and 80% methane content. Although the results showed that, the higher percentage of poultry manure in digesters speed up the biogas production process and the higher levels of food waste produces more gas, but the role of poultry manure as a catalyst cannot be ignored.
